This course is designed for beginners eager to embark on their ice climbing journey. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants will learn essential skills for safe and enjoyable climbing.

 

Prerequisite: Participants must have prior climbing experience and the ability to belay.

Avalanche safety course

Avalanche safety course

Duration: 1Day (Available Saturday only)

Group Size: 1:6 (minimum 4 participants)

 

Cost: CHF 200 per person/day (minimum 4 participants), CHF 180 per person/day for groups larger than 4. Doesn't include food & accommodation

Beginner Avalanche Safety Course

Duration: 1Day (Available Saturday only)

Group Size: 1:6 (minimum 4 participants)

 

Cost: CHF 200 per person/day (minimum 4 participants), CHF 180 per person/day for groups larger than 4.

This introductory course is designed for outdoor enthusiasts who want to move safely in avalanche-prone terrain. Participants will learn fundamental knowledge and skills to identify avalanche risks, use safety equipment correctly, and plan safer routes in winter environments.

Prerequisites:

  • No prior avalanche training required

  • General outdoor experience (e.g., hiking, mountaineering)

  • Ski touring or splitboard equipment required

  • Ability to handle simple descents in powder

 

Course Content:

  • Reading avalanche forecasts and terrain analysis: How to assess avalanche danger and identify safe terrain

  • Practical exercises:

    • Using avalanche transceivers

    • Handling shovels and probes in the event of an avalanche accident

    • Group rescue drills

  • Planning safe routes: How to select and evaluate appropriate routes for skiing, snowboarding, or touring

  • Behavior in avalanche-prone areas: Avoiding risks and making the right decisions under challenging conditions
